My hair is also very long and thick. I have gotten my best results (ie. not poofy, very soft hair) using Dove intense therapy shampoo and conditioner and Frizz ease deep conditioner.
I tried it after all those commercials saying to "give it the 5 day test" and I was so happy that I did.

Paul Mitchell ... Me and my girl have used it for years both conditioner and the shampoo. They have all different kinds for different types of hair.... U can get both for 25dollars at JC Pennys. Its gonna be a lil more at any other salon.
