if you have thick hair straight or wavy you should definitely try thinning it out. it helped me alot and my head feels lighter.

I'd go for layers, I don't have pictures but thick hair and layers is always nice ;] - in my opinion of course, do what you want.. Look up some hairstyles off like photobucket and google and get ideas.
