I got my Conair one for around 20$ (US). It's 2" and straightens my hair pretty easily. (My hair is also thick and pretty long.) You can find them at any store like Target, WalMart, drugstores.

Ick.....thick hair is good for one thing. Being under the scissor blades. If I were you I would grab the nearest pair of scissors and chop away.
