Does really thick hair look good when its long???

i have really thick short hair and a lot of people have been telling me that i should grow it out like skater hair but the last time i tried growing it, i thought it looked really stupid because it got all poofy. does anyone know if it will look better when it gets longer or will it just keep looking stupid???

Because you're a guy, I'm guessing "long" is like shoulder-length. That wouldn't get it heavy enough to straighten it to prevent the poof, and thick hair can be hard to manage, so a simple solution I'd recommend is getting it layered. It'll give you more of the skater look rather than the mop head, and it'll help prevent the poof. If you still have trouble with it there's products out there that can slicken it down.

well if it looked poofy last time it will probably look poofy again. but maybe if you went to a salon and got it cut in a way to make it not poofy. or used products for friziness?

I have curly hair so it's a little different, but I found that as my hair got longer, it also got heavier. It actually pulled my hair down instead of poofing out. So I really liked the results. Hope that helps a little :-)

grow it long, but use some frizziness stuff? Maybe that will stop the poofing. I think thick hair it cute longer!

I have very long thick hair(15 inches past the shoulders) it looks good. But I have to straighten it so that it looks good. It is VERY poofy at a medium length but the more it grows out the more it's weighed down and looks less poofy. The longer it grows the less I have to do with it to make it look good.

There is a great trick to taking care of poofy hair. Its actually a grueling step but buy a good straightner and just straighten your hair a little not too much. This will control that poof that happens. And if you buy the right iron like an ionic it gives your hair texture softness and shine. A plus all around. Keep in mind a good straightner will run you around 20 to 25 dollars if its cheaper than that or doesn't offer other settings than low medium or high pass. It should have more settings than just three to be good. A wet and dry is really great because it dries your hair then you straighten eliminating the blow drier.

i have EXTREMELY thick hair. i love to change things up. i've had my hair every color cut and style. when its really long it doesnt poof anymore. when its like medium and short is when it poofs. the only problem is that it got tangled alot. and its so hard to do anything with it because it is so long. besides like ponytails. but like i couldnt get my hair into a clip and if i did it was so long it looked stupid. i just got my hair cut really short and im growing it back at tho. i hate it when my hair is in my face because there is so much of it. having it longer was easier. and ponytails look better when you have long hair

i had long thick hair..

i didnt like it at all..it was kinda like skater like..and got really poofy.

i thought i looked stupid and it got annoying..

But kept it long.. but got layers on it, i also got it thinned out.

you can grow it out.. but get it thinned so it wouldnt be so poofy.. and it wont look so stupid.
