I have really thick hair and I like wearing it down but never can because it gets really poofy. any

buy a hair straightener, Chi and Solia are really good, but make sure you buy a spray that protects your hair and maybe a shampoo and conditioner

Oh gosh, I feel for ya, I've got the same problem! Normally what I do, is after I have a shower, towl-dry your hair, and put it into a tight bun. I wait an hour or so, while it dries a bit. I take it out, and my hair forms nice long curls, and is not frizzy or poofy. However, if you want your hair to be straight, I suggest you use a frizz control, or poof control hair shampoo and conditioner such as this:

...and then, just straighten your hair with a hair straightener! That usually stops the poofiness for me, and makes my hair soft and look more thin. Good luck!

Since you have thick hair, get a hair cut and ask the stylist to razer it a lot to take out some, then ask them for products and exactly how to use them

I had the same problem, so I started using John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum. You just put some in your hair while it's still wet from the shower. My hair's been noticeably softer, smoother, and less poofy since.

If that doesn't work, then another option is Thermal Reconditioning (aka Japanese Straightening). It makes your hair unbelievably sleek without requiring any daily maintenance. For most people, it lasts until it grows out. A lot of my friends have done it. They get it done in Asia, where it's really cheap, but it's usually very expensive in the U.S. On average, it costs $300. Even then, it really depends on how much hair you need to have straightened. It's time consuming as well, but the results are amazing.

By the way, if you do decide to get it done, ask the stylist to start lower than the root. Starting at the root gives some people that wet dog look.

I still say go with John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum.

Hope this helps!

Find a haircut that suits your needs and your personality , ask your hairdresser to THIN out your hair , with THINNING SHEARS .

I閳ユ獫e been cutting my own hair for about 3 years now( trim jobs and small hair cuts along with thinning out my proofed mess. ) My hair in a pony tail can easily reach thickness of the top rim of a soda can .

I bought a pair of thinning shears for myself but I would only suggest it if you can read up on a lot of information online before taking shears of any kind to your hair.

When your hair stylist is done thinning what they think should be taken out , ask to feel for yourself , put your hair into a pony with your hands and feel if that閳ユ獨 the right thickness or still too thick . Its only hair and it will grow back .

Getting your hair razored at the ends only takes bulk out of the ends , not the middle and near your scalp where it gets the poofiest.

After your hair cut , pick up a few hair items like anti frizz serum , doesn閳ユ獩 have to be expensive , doesn閳ユ獩 have to come from the salon . I enjoy using Garnier Fructis Sleek and shine anti frizz serum it閳ユ獨 a leave in . It adds shine and really helps with managing your hair . I use that one when Im going to be heat styling my hair like blow drying or flat ironing my hair .

I also use by the same company Long and Strong leave in conditioner both come in these little round pump bottles . I use the long and strong when Im just going to put my hair up in a tail for work maybe let it air dry. I bought both about a year ago and they are about half way empty...

Flat ironing is your friend , but so should heat protective sprays for your hair. Too much heat styling will cause your hair to get really frizzy and nappy and very dull looking .

Be gentle and give your hair a break , that閳ユ獨 what the pony tail was made for , bad hair days LOL !
